Chicken Wings - Its Dangerous (Folks, I Care)
Avoid eating chicken wings frequently - ladies, especially; a true story...!
A friend of mine recently had a growth in her womb and she underwent an operation to remove the cyst.
The cyst removed was filled with a dark colored blood. She thought that she would be recovered after the surgery but! she was terribly wrong. A relapse occurred just a few months later. Distressed , she rushed down to her gynecologist for a consultation.
During her consultation, her doctor asked her a question that puzzled her.
He ask if she was a frequent consumer of chicken wings and she replied yes wondering as to how, he knew of her eating habits. You see, the truth is in this modern day and age; chickens are injected with steroids to accelerate their growth so that the needs of this society can be met. This need is none other than the need for food. Chickens that are injected with steroids are usually given the shot at the neck or the wings.
Therefore, it is in these places that the highest concentration of steroids exists.
These steroids have terrifying effects on the body as it accelerates growth..
It has an even more dangerous effect in the presence of female hormones, this leads to women being more prone to the growth of a cyst in the womb. Therefore, I advise the people out there to watch their diets and to lower their frequency of consuming chicken wings!

Hoax or Fact:
Mixture of Hoax and Facts.
The message warns people to lower the intake of Chicken Wings as the chickens in these modern times are injected with growth steroids (hormones) and so the consumption of those can damage health, like formation of cysts, especially in case of women. This story is a mixture of hoax and facts.
These health warnings about eating chicken wings have been circulating in various versions since 2004. They say that the poultry chickens these days are injected with growth hormones (i.e. steroids) to increase their growth and production rapidly and meet the growing demands. It is a fact that poultry companies use means to increase their production, it is also a fact that such type of substances can be administered through feed additives, but in general, poultry companies do not employ these steroid injections. And even if there are any hormonal residues in the flesh of chickens grown this way, it is not likely that it would be concentrated in a particular part like wings or neck.
Use of Hormones in Poultry
Steroids of any kind for use in poultry are not approved by FDA and its use has been illegal in many countries like U.S., Canada, and Europe for decades. According to The University of Georgia Department of Poultry Science, chickens are not fed and need not be fed these growth hormones, for reasons mentioned below, which is also explained in the video:
- Hormone use is illegal in the United States and many other countries.
- Hormones are not effective in chicken growth, as growth is an extremely complex combination of metabolic functions, depending on a wide array of endocrinological signals.
- Administration of these growth steroids is extremely difficult and is a costly affair.
- There can be negative impact on chicken performance, as increased growth rate can possibly multiply the rate of mortality from heat stress.
- Even with the use of anabolic steroids (which develop protein within cells, especially in skeletal muscles), it requires proper diet and exercise to benefit from them.
- Hormones are not needed, especially in case of broiler chickens, as they genetically grow rapidly.
However, in the United States and many other countries, certain "steroid hormonal growth-promoting drugs" are approved for use in beef cattle, as it is claimed safe by the FDA and USDA, and this is not without any controversy. To learn about the health effects of humans in these cases, large scale studies are needed, checking the consumption of meat from both hormone-treated animals and untreated animals - in people with similar diet.
A study in Egypt, sponsored by the WHO determined that poultry raised by farmers using growth-enhancing hormones contained an elevated level of estradiol (estrogen), and noted that a number of scientific studies have shown a correlation between prolonged use of oral contraceptive steroids and appearance of a particular form of cancer in women. The study concluded that "anabolic agents used in beef and chicken entail a special risk to public health".
To conclude, the health warning about consumption of Chicken Wings is exaggerated, but yes, it is also important to choose your chicken or meat from a healthy source.
