Donald Trump: I Will Legalize Marijuana in all 50 States
Hoax or Fact:
Stories doing rounds online since mid July 2016 claim that Donald Trump has said he will Legalize Marijuana in all 50 States of America, the claim spread wide and became popular after he was elected as the U.S. President in November. Although Trump made statements in favour of Marijuana use in the past, the claims that he said he will legalize it in all 50 states of America are not facts.
Origin of Claim
In July 2016 Your News Wire website yournewswire.com published an article with a title "Trump: I Will Legalize Marijuana In All 50 States," and went on to explain that Trump is the Presidential candidate most likely to ensure marijuana will be legalized across the country. The article mentions couple of his supportive views on medical Marijuana use in the past and his business tactics against illegal Drug lords. In a news interview, Trump is also heard saying the legalization of Marijuana drug use should be left to decision of individual states. The story was republished by few other online outlets later and became popular after Trump became President.
So the stories that Donald Trump said he will legalize Marijuana in all 50 states of America are hoaxes. As of this writing, after he became President, Trump did not make any official statement on legalization of Marijuana use.
