Tata Group rejects Pakistan governments multicrore offer to buy Tata Sumo Grande.
Tata Group head Ratan Tata rejected this offer saying "There will be no business with a country indulge in launching terror operations against India."
A grand salute to Ratan Tata for this patriotic gesture.
Unfortunately we have very few successful people like him remaining in India who give such importance to Nationalism and National dignity over monetary gain.
We salute you!
Hoax or Fact:
The message claims that Ratan Tata of Tata Group has rejected a multicrore offer from Pakistan to buy Tata Sumo Grande. The actual origin of this message is unknown, but it was published in an article on Bharat Autos website, dated 8th August 2012, which said that Pakistan wanted to buy Tata Sumo Grande from Tata Group for use of Pakistan police. Post this article, the message started to spread on social networking platforms like Facebook, and various Defence and Automotive forums. However, the message is not a fact.
As of date, any kind of high profile business like this between India and Pakistan is officially restricted by Government of India. Therefore, there is no question of any such trade proposal between Pakistan Government and the Indian company Tata Group. This hoax message actually started after Bharat Autos published a related article, which seems to have been removed by them later. They have corrected it in another article published on their website the same day, along with apologies.
We seriously apologize for the mistake and the error is regretted. Early-today we posted an article regarding ‘Tata motors had rejected Pakistan’s proposal for supplying 380 nos. Tata Sumo Grande for use of Pakistan police.‘ Actually the sources that we referred turned to be a fake news and only after Tata Motors contacted our team the truth was revealed.
And below is the official response from a Tata Motors spokesperson regarding this news:
“The news is incorrect – the company has not received any such order, and the trade between India & Pakistan, automobiles are in the restricted list. Hence, the question of Pakistan having placed any order with Tata Motors for automobiles does not arise.”
Therefore, this message is a hoax and need not be shared.
