African Local Media

On 24 September 2014, Franklin Doloquee reported a story published in two African news outlets; All Africa (AllAfrica.com) and The New Dawn (TheNewDawnLiberia.com) about 2 Ebola victims in African village to have “Risen from the Dead”. As per the story, two women in their 40s and 60s, died of the deadly Ebola virus in separate communities of Nimba County, Liberia, who, according to a local newspaper report, have reportedly resurrected before they were taken for burial, and are now walking among the living, causing panic among the locals. The story got wide attention also because the incident was mentioned in some credible news outlets like UK’s Daily Mirror (mirror.co.uk).

Both the aforementioned articles in African local media actually come with a title questioning if ‘Dead Ebola patients resurrect?,’ and there are no credible reports to address how the ‘Ebola Zombies’ were declared dead, and what made them so. If any such incidents really happened, it is possible that the Ebola victims did not die completely and have shown symptoms like movement after the alleged death. Notably, one of the women, Ma Kebeh had been indoors for two nights without food and medication prior to her alleged death. There were also bizarre news about Ebola cases in Nimba County recently, including a native doctor who claimed he could cure infected victims, but died of the virus himself.

Big American News

On 30 September 2014, an article on Big America News (bigamericannews.com) said Africa confirms a third Ebola victim rising from the dead, also releasing a scary picture of the first “Ebola Zombie” captured (main picture in this article).

The Big American News Media, which boasts itself as ‘built upon the principles of fearless reporting, loudly yelled opinions and facts proudly born of raw gut instinct‘, appears to have actually used a doctored image made from the picture of a lab-Zombie in the movie ‘World War Z‘ (see pictures below). The website has been publishing unreal stories like “Obama is Infecting Christians with Ebola To Destroy Jesus and Start A New Age of Liberal Darkness“.

Huzlers

As mentioned in the About Us description on their webpage, “Huzlers.com is a combination of real shocking news and satirical entertainment to keep its visitors in a state of disbelief.”

In Conclusion

There are no credible reports corroborating any dead Ebola victims resurrecting in Africa or anywhere in the world. The hoax stories originated from local, unproven allegations and then satirical, entertainment websites online. So there’s no need to panic; Ebola victims are not rising from the dead in any Zombie Apocalypse.

Ebola virus has been a serious concern lately, killing many people in Africa and elsewhere in the world. Another hoax story in the recent past said the deadly virus Ebola reached India, killing an infected person.

Hoax or Fact:

Hoax.
