Corpse comes back to life at Russian morgue, then goes to drink vodka.
1. Russian Corpse Comes Back to Life Inside Morgue, Pours himself a Vodka.
2. Dead drunk: Russian man wakes up in morgue and joins mourners for a vodka at his wake.
The remarkable story shared heavily online, also in media outlets, claims that a Russian man gets drunk with friends, drops dead, and then miraculously comes back to life inside the morgue freezer before heading off to drink again with his friends who were mourning his death. As unbelievable as it sounds, the claims are not facts!
The bizarre story was actually reported with a title “Woke up in the Morgue (translated)” in late 2015 by a local newspaper called Khasanskiye Vesti in Russia’s Far East region. According to it, an unnamed local man drinking with his close friends suddenly dropped dead, after which his body was taken to the morgue. Then a detective Alexey Stoev said that it was there the man was ‘resurrected’. It is said that the dead man referred to as ‘hero’ was released after investigation. However, after coming back to life inside the morgue, the paper reported that the man did not head home, but instead returned to his friends, who were still drinking, but this time mourning his death. It was also reported that the person who opened the door to see his dead drinking friend alive and well was so shocked that he fainted.
The too good to be true story was picked up by many media outlets, which is how it became popular online. However, as for the matter of fact, the same paper that published the story later revealed with a note to readers that it was not true, and that it was only a gag story meant to warn people against alcohol abuse in the New Year holidays. The note is given below (translated):
Attention readers !!!
Note Stories 2015 “woke up in the morgue,” was told by the police as a New Year lottery for the purpose of warning against alcohol abuse in the New Year holidays.
So quite clearly, the stories saying a dead drunk Russian corpse comes back to life inside morgue, and joins his friends drinking over his death mourning are simply hoaxes.
