Hoax or Fact:
A weird kind of story in heavy circulation online states that a Woman has stabbed her boyfriend with a sharpened selfie stick just because he did not like her newest Instagram selfie quickly enough. No, the claim is not a fact.
Source of Story
The story in question originated from an article published in The Valley Report website thevalleyreport.com on 30 August 2015. According to the report, the 22 year old woman got angry because her boyfriend did not like her post on Instagram within the allotted 10 minute timeframe, and she was arrested after committing the crime. The story posted on Twitter garnered thousands of shares and soon went viral online.
The story is basically another fake news report published in The Valley Report website, the disclaimer of which clearly states their content is 'exaggerated, embellished or an outright work of fiction'. The part of the article where the woman suspect reportedly says that the kind of crime she committed should be a constitutional right clearly indicates the comic and satirical nature of the story. And for the photograph of the woman, she is actually 20-year-old Stamford woman Shannon Csapilla who was accused of messing with her friends' cars in late August 2015; not for stabbing anyone.
In short, the stories saying a woman stabs her boyfriend for not liking her Instagram selfie fast enough are hoaxes that originated from a fake news report.
