Soft Drink Coca Cola Kills Scorpion in Minutes.
Analysis:
Some videos circling online since many days claim to show that pouring the soft drink Coca Cola over a Scorpion can Kill it in a matter of minutes. As detailed below, the claim is a fact, but like suggested in some stories, the coca cola soft drink does not act like a Poison to kill the Scorpion.

As shown in the video, the man first pours plain water over a Scorpion and it is able to survive it, not causing any harm. However, later when he pours Coca Cola over the Scorpion, it dies away in few minutes. Some people suggested the Scorpion simply died of drowning, but as a matter of fact, the Carbonation in the soft drink suffocates the Scorpion to death.
Scorpions in general breathe through four pairs of Book Lungs on the underside of their abdomen. Carbonation of soft drinks and soda waters involves pumping Carbon Dioxide into the drink at high pressure, and then sealing the container. When the container is opened and the pressure is relieved, the dissolved gas is released from the solution as small bubbles. This disrupts the breathing of the Scorpion in the carbonated drink and gradually suffocates it to death. As shown in the second video, note that this happens even in case of 7 UP drink, which again is carbonated.
In a related claim, few other videos show that Scorpion in desert dies when cold water is poured over it. The fact, however being, Scorpions in desert areas are used to hot climates, and when cold water is poured over them suddenly, they simply freeze with temporary paralysis. Coming back to the main story, yes, Coca Cola can in fact kill a Scorpion in few minutes, not that it is poisonous; it is because of the Carbonation and happens with any such soft drink.
