Hoax or Fact:
Messages and videos shared heavily online talk about a Pool Repairman who seems to have used CPR i.e. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation technique to save a drowning Squirrel. Yes, it is a fact, the details of which are given below.
Rick Gruber is the pool repairman from Phoenix, Arizona, who heard a splash in a pool that he was about to clean. When he realized the commotion was coming from a drowning squirrel that somehow fell in, the pool man fished the little fellow out of water. At first the squirrel looked like it's not going to survive, but then Gruber noticed faint signs of life – which is when he started filming.
The pool man remembered his CPR recovery training and began with an abdominal massage to the little squirrel draped over a PVC pipe before giving it a healing nap in his kneepad. Then he went on to pinching it until the squirrel got to its feet after about an hour and recovered well enough to move back home in to the desert. In the first video, you can watch the pool guy Rick Gruber’s incredible act in full.
The pool man who said he nursed a prairie dog back to health in similar way in past in fact coached the little furry rodent like a close buddy. For his heads up and timely act of giving CPR to rescue and help the little squirrel get back to normal life, the animal lover and pool repairman Rick Gruber must be appreciated! However, shown in the second video is the best way to give CPR to a Squirrel, as explained in a CNN report of the story.
