Because of the mysterious claim, and that it was coming from many social media users, viewers online thought it could a real UFO sighting, associating it to some kind of extraterrestrial activity. No, the alleged UFO sighting over Geneva stadium is not a fact.
The brief videos and photos allegedly shared from the UFO sighting over Geneva stadium garnered thousands of views and shares on social media sites. Some alleged witnesses said the unusual dark object (UFO) seen at around 8:30 p.m. on 12 October 2016 was "as big as a plane” and that it emitted a shrill noise. Sceptics however considered the popular theory speculating the alleged UFO could be a Drone equipped with LEDs. The fact of the matter being, just few days later, on 15 October, Facebook page Village du Soir revealed the whole truth about the UFO buzz that worried people. It was not any UFO or extraterrestrial activity, but simply a viral campaign by them for the opening of a cultural night event on 22 October in Geneva:
So the stories with videos and pictures saying a noisy UFO was spotted flying over Geneva stadium are hoaxes.
