Hoax or Fact:
The message is a warning suggesting Girls to remove their photos from social networking sites immediately, claiming that online criminals, including highly professional graphic designers steal pictures of girls from their Facebook accounts, edit them in unfair ways and sell them to various porn sites for money. Although there may be such random incidents happening here and there, but there are no credible reports of any such chain of incidents or online criminal gangs.
These messages have been circulating in various versions since 2012 at least, the initial versions of which said the online business group was from Sri Lanka, and it also mentioned that Muslim girls are even targeted in such cases. However, the source of these messages appears to be a 'community' Facebook page which did not mention any credible evidence to support the claim.
Our online study shows no evidence of any such chain of criminal activities - that criminal gangs are stealing girls' photos from Facebook and other social media sites, manipulating them, and then selling to porn sites for money. Cyber criminals who make business out of girls pictures need not target the social media sites - as they can easily find many pictures through a simply Google search. Therefore, the message is an exaggerated warning and a hoax.
