Morgan Freeman Narrates 2018
Fact Check:
A viral video on Facebook, YouTube and other places online purports to show how American actor Morgan Freeman reviews 2018. The video appears to show how Morgan Freeman narrates 2018 by commenting on some viral trends in the year 2018 and how people reacted to them. Origin of Video – Morgan Freeman Reviews 2018
On 29th December 2018 before New Year, Facebook page The Hook posted the video with a title ‘Morgan Freeman Reviews 2018‘. The video appeared to show Morgan Freeman commenting on some viral trends in 2018 like floss dance, yodeling kid in supermarket, Keke challenge, debate over Yanni or Laurel and Donald Trump toilet paper roll. The actor in his voice seems to have criticized some of the ‘silly’ trends, concluding that he hopes 2019 will be better and people will not do such ‘dumb shit’. Because of popularity of the actor and the nature of the content before new year eve, the video went viral. The Facebook post garnered more than 1 million shares as of this writing and also appeared on YouTube among others.
Contrary to the claim, the video does not actually show 2018-year review of the actor Morgan Freeman. The voice of Morgan Freeman you hear in the video in fact comes from a voice over actor Charlie Hopkinson. On 31st December 2018, Charlie Hopkinson shared the video on his Facebook account describing it as “A little video I did for The Hook to reflect on the past year”. Later, on 3rd Jan. 2019 Facebook page The Hook also clarified in a comment that the video they shared earlier was just a Parody, thanking Charlie Hopkinson for providing the voiceover.

So, the viral video content showing American actor Morgan Freeman reviews 2018 is not real. It’s in fact a parody involving a voice over actor who impersonated Morgan’s voice.
