A picture message making rounds online alleges to show Hollywood actor Tom Hanks has a Wilson Volleyball Company for his Coronavirus Quarantine. It says the Gold Coast Hospital Staff rolled in the Cast Away movie “costar” to keep Tom Hanks company in Quarantine. No, the claims are not true.

In early March 2020, both Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilsons were diagnosed with COVID-19. In fact, they are the first Hollywood stars to announce they have tested positive for the Coronavirus, COVID-19. The couple was in Queensland visiting Australia. Tom Hanks was on Australia’s Gold Coast for the pre-production of Baz Luhrmann‘s untitled Elvis Presley biopic movie.

After diagnosis, Tom Hanks’ couple was taken into a Gold Coast Hospital for treatment in isolation. The same day on 12th March, the Betoota Advocate website betootaadvocate.com published an article with title “Gold Coast Hospital Staff Roll In A Wilson Volleyball To Keep Tom Hanks Company In Quarantine“. The article mentioned in last line the thoughtful and overworked staff at the Gold Coast hospital brought in Hanks a Wilson volleyball to keep him company for the duration of his stay. The ‘news’ piece became popular after the shocking news of the Hollywood couple infected with the deadly virus.

In the first place, there are no credible reports to confirm the claim in question. The Betoota Advocate website, which calls itself Australia’s oldest newspaper, is in fact a satirical news publication. Coming to the photograph in question, it is a Photoshop creation using quarantine kind of background. The original photograph shows Tom Hanks reunited with the Wilson volleyball at a New York Rangers game in February 2015.

He also mentioned they are following the advice of experts, taking care of themselves and taking it one-day-at-a-time.
