A horrific video shared widely online claims to show that a girl in India is beaten badly and burnt to death live in public. Different stories attached to the video say that the shameful and inhuman incident happened in Andhra Pradesh State or Hyderabad City of India, because the Hindu girl married a Muslim man, and she did not follow the Muslim customs. Unfortunately, the video is real and highly disturbing to publish here, but the claims associated to it are not facts.

Actual Facts

The disturbing video actually shows a 16-year-old girl mercilessly beaten and burned to death by a violent lynch mob in the village of Rio Bravo, near Guatemala City in Central America back in May 2015. It’s saddening; the girl struggles in pain and dies on road in front of gazing public. The girl was accused of killing a 68-year-old motorcycle taxi driver Carlos Enrique González Noriega along with her biker gang, who managed to flee the scene. Talking about the unfortunate incident, a police spokesman said that officers tried to intervene but were blocked by the bystanders.

The horrific video uploaded to YouTube went viral online in Guatemala before being taken down, but it was later shared and re-shared many times. It also spurred a debate over the ‘vigilante justice’ in the Central American country. With many powerful drug and human trafficking cartels operating in the nation, it is unfortunate that violent lynching of this kind has been a major problem in Guatemala. So the stories attached to the video claiming a girl in India was beaten badly and burnt alive for inter-religious marriage are simply hoaxes.
