Kejriwal Sitting Close to Human Trafficker Prabha Muni: Fact Check

There were many cases against Prabha Muni and her husband, and police also announced a reward of Rs 25,000 in the regard. Anti Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Delhi arrested Prabha Muni in late September 2018 from Punjabi Bagh area of Delhi. She was almost absconding after human trafficking case at Simdega (City in Jharkhand) in 2013. Consequently, Jharkhand Police took her into custody. Later in October 2018, her husband Rohit Muni was also arrested from a Bihar hide and confessed to his crimes to police.

Apart from running the NGOs, Prabha Minj Muni was the Vice-President of an organization, All India Christian Minority Council. The couple in fact used the names of their NGOs and the Christian Council to transport the girls for trafficking. She used Facebook to lure poor and helpless girls from Jharkhand in the guise of offering them jobs and set them up in several households with below minimum wages, not transferring the money to their parents. The couple said they had close links with various political leaders and bureaucrats in Jharkhand and also Delhi.

Political Connections?

Police said the couple used to organize a grand Christmas party every year inviting political leaders, police officers and bureaucrats. After the photograph of Kejriwal and Prabha Muni went viral in 2018, former AAP MLA Kapil Mishra showed a poster of 2017 Christmas program the couple organized in New Delhi and Arvind Kejriwal was the Chief Guest.

During investigation, police said they will look into the role of the politicians and bureaucrats attending the party of the couple. However, it is unclear if Arvind Kejriwal had any close links with the woman and was involved in any way with the human trafficking racket.
