Fact Check:

The video in question is circulating widely on WhatsApp and Facebook saying it shows a Muslim School Teacher Beating Hindu Girls for Not Wearing Hijab. At first impression, the video does indeed appear to show the teacher beating some girls not wearing Hijab. Nonetheless, the said claim is not true.

Not Teacher Beating Hindu Girls

Hijab is a veil some Muslim women wear in the presence of any male outside of their immediate family. It usually covers their head and chest. Coming to the video doing rounds on social media; it appears to have surfaced in late April 2019. However, a close examination of the video reveals the claims associated to it are not true.

Firstly, the beginning of the video shows the ‘teacher’ actually hitting – a boy. Then he goes on to beat few other girls – who as a matter of fact – are not wearing the school uniform shoes. See the images from the video confirming the same.

It might be unfair to punish school kids like that beating, but it is clearly not based on any religious uniform. The ‘teacher’ in the video is not beating the school girls for not wearing Hijab, the messages saying so are therefore not true. It’s unfortunate; videos like this are taken out of context and shared with controversial claims meant to create religious differences among people and society.
