After few days of panic among consumers in Kerala, the laboratory tests on 15 October 2016 confirmed that the eggs in question were real ones, and very old ones that are probably just rotten. According to the sources, there could be several reasons for the suspected changes in the eggs. The officials mentioned one of the cases where the eggs were frozen in the production plants in Namakkal before they were transported to the state in large trucks. They said that sometimes the eggs were stored for more than desirable time, which could have led them to rot.
