Correct Way Of Cooking Noodles
The correct way to cook instant noodles without harming our bodies and health:
Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for around 3 minutes and then it’s ready to eat. This is the WRONG way and dangerous method of cooking the instant noodles like Maggi. By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structure of the MSG, causing it to be toxic. The other thing that you may or may not realize is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have eaten the noodles.
CORRECT METHOD:
1. Boil the noodles in a pot of water.
2. Once the noodles are cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.
3. Boil another pot of water, add the cooked noodles into the hot boiling water and then turn off the stove.
4. Only at this stage when the stove is off, and while the water is very hot, add the flavouring powder into the water, to make noodle soup.
5. However, if you need dry noodles, remove the noodles and add the flavoring powder and toss it to get dry noodles.
Analysis:
These messages started circulating online since 2007, mostly under the name “Correct way of cooking noodles.” The message however is not fact. The traditional way of cooking Maggi noodles is the best way, which is also printed as instructions on the package is not the wrong way and is harmless. Some people do remove the boiled water of noodles and add fresh water to it only for the sake of taste. The ingredients of maggi and other noodles can be directly added to boiled water, cooked for few minutes and served directly. In no way, cooking Maggi in wrong way is dangerous and it will not turn toxic. The best way to cook maggi noodles is according to your taste.
MSG means Monosodium Glutamate, it is commonly used as a flavor enhancer in various foods like noodles. There is a concern that it might have adverse effects like head aches and muscle problems when used in large doses, but it is completely harmless in small amounts. More importantly, boiling or not boiling does not effect its molecular structure, therefore, you can either use the same boiled water for serving or fresh water. MSG is not used in the making of Maggi.
The part of the message stating noodles are coated with wax is also hoax. There is no evidence that wax exists either in the noodles or in the ingredient list. Maggi and high quality noodles in general do not contain any kind of wax. Even if noodles did contain wax, it would pass through our digestive system just like any other food. It does not take 4 to 5 days as mentioned in the message. The same is mentioned in Nestle website, the makers of Maggi.
Note that packaged noodles are not healthy when consumed regularly in large amounts. Instead, cooking plain noodles and eating them with a well balanced sauce is the best way to provide carbohydrates and other important nutrients to our body.
Hoax or Fact:
Hoax.
