eSanjeevani – Modi Government’s Boon for Senior Citizens – Medical Consulting Totally Free*
The Central Government has launched an excellent consulting scheme for senior citizens and all other citizens.
Elderly people, especially those with high blood pressure, diabetes, etc., don’t rush to the hospital for OPD. They seek treatment at home for minor ailments like headaches, physical pain, and are not ready to go to the hospital.
You can now access consultancy and treatment on Google Chrome via the link below. Note:
- Select patient registration.
- Type your mobile number. Type OTP on mobile for registration.
- Enter patient details and district. Now, you will connect with the doctor online. After that, you can consult a doctor for any of your health problems through the video. The doctor will prescribe the medicine online. You can take the medicine by showing it in the medical pharmacy shop.
This service is completely free.
You can use this service every day from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm, including Sunday.

The message doing rounds on WhatsApp and other social media platforms explains about eSanjeevani, a Free Medical Consulting service from Modi Government of India for elderly and all other citizens. It says senior citizens need not take the trouble to visit hospital and avail the online consultation with doctors. It also mentions the service is available every day from 10.00 am to 3.00 pm, including Sunday. The claims are facts with some misinformation explained here.
About the eSanjeevani, Free Medical Consulting Service
eSanjeevani is a national tele-consultation service, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) developed. C-DAC is an Indian autonomous scientific society, operating under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. Funding for the eSanjeevani program comes from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India under Narendra Modi’s Prime Ministership.
eSanjeevani platform has in fact enabled two types of telemedicine services, Doctor-to-Doctor (eSanjeevani) and Patient-to-Doctor (eSanjeevani OPD) tele-consultations. eSanjeevani was implemented under the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centre (AB-HWC). The Health Ministry rolled out the second tele-consultation service ‘eSanjeevaniOPD’ owing to the COVID-19 pandemic in April 2020.
eSanjeevani OPD
eSanjeevani OPD was developed during the lockdown period and rapidly scaled up. It extended to many states of India with thousands of trained doctors and paramedics. Likewise, the novel digital modality to deliver OPD (Outpatient Department) services virtually has gained popularity. It also started making impact in smaller towns and rural areas. A press release from Government of India on 7th November 2020 mentioned Health Ministry’s telemedicine service, eSanjeevani completed 7 lakh consultations. eSanjeevani also won Digital India Award – 2020 in the category of “Innovation in Pandemic”.
The online consultation is in fact free of charge for all citizens of India; not just senior citizens. All citizens in need can take advantage of the eSanjeevani OPD health service of the Indian government. Nonetheless, the free online medical consulting is definitely useful for elderly citizens who cannot go out to visit doctor. The service is also favorable for the doctors practicing telemedicine as it limits the contact with patients who are present virtually. Moreover, eSanjeevani has removed the requirement of doctor to be at a specific location to provide health services.
