Story:
This message was spreading widely online through chain emails and was shared on social media platforms. It says that most of the lipsticks contain lead and that can lead to cancers.
Analysis:
The food and drug administrative agency(FDA) analyzed different lipstick brands very carefully. They did detect very low level traces of lead, of about 0.09 to 3.06 parts per million, which is quite minimal, when compared to other sources of lead. The permissible safe levels of lead in cosmetics is a standard of 10 ppm. FDA strictly states that all color additives must be government certified before they are used in any cosmetics.
Therefore, standard quality lipsticks with low lead levels do not pose any significant cancer risk, and are safe to use.
Hoax or Fact:
Mixture of hoax and facts.
