Pictures of Blue Waffles Disease

Story:

Blue waffle – It’s basically a slang term for an extremely nasty or severe vaginal infection/STD on the vagina. The infection could cause lesions on the outside of the vagina, as well as bruising, which causes it to look blue in color.

Analysis:

Messages with disturbing pictures of severely infected woman’s vagina warn people about a new sexually transmitted disease (STD) called Blue Waffles Disease. It is said that Blue waffles disease can only pass from females to males, and a female develops it because of unclean sex habits. However, there are no credible news or medical reports of any such Blue Waffles disease, and the pictures appear to be photoshopped. So Blue waffles disease is most certainly a hoax.

Scary stories and disturbing pictures of this Blue waffles disease have been circulating since 2011 at least, and this internet hoax became so popular that Trenton councilwoman fell prey to it and addressed it at a city council meeting. Several websites reported stories of this STD, with various other names like Berry Waffle, Berry Black Waffle, Dirty waffles, etc. But there is no scientific evidence to prove that a disease like blue waffle exists in reality. There are no people who reported about such an infectious disease. Furthermore, there is no credible medical information about this blue waffle disease. In a related article in Women’s Health Foundation website discussing the authenticity of this disease, Dr. Amy Whitaker, an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics/Gynecology at the University of Chicago Hospital is reported to have explained the same.

“There is no disease known as “blue waffle disease,” in the medical world. There is no disease that causes a blue appearance on the external genitalia. I had never heard of this until you wrote to our section…and asked about it. The common belief among medical professionals with whom I have spoken or e-mailed about this is that it is a hoax; the picture and “fake” disease used to lure people into some web site.

The picture itself is disturbing. It does appear to have some ‘photoshopping’ effects in its vivid blue tint on some of the versions I’ve seen. It is also possible that a bluish appearance to external genitalia could be from bruising, which could result from force, most likely from a sexual assault. I can’t say, obviously, if that is the case here, but bruising certainly wouldn’t be bright blue. No STDS cause external bruising. Additionally, there appears to be one or two lesions, which could be an STD of some sort (for example, a herpes lesion), although it is certainly not clear from the picture. It even appears that there might be some sort of laceration on her right labia, a “cut” of sorts, but again it’s unclear. That could also be from force, or it could be an STD that presents with a lesion on the vulva…”

One fact around all these stories and pictures is that there came up many websites (including pornographic websites) in the name of Blue Waffles disease and generated lot of traffic and money. People need to be cautious while clicking on such pictures and links. The disturbing picture that came along with the story (not shown here) appears to be photoshopped with added colors, while the hoax story of Blue Waffles disease could be the creation of a pervert mind or a smart businessman who intended to generate traffic and earn money.

It could also be the view of someone who wanted to reduce unsafe sex among people. So in any case, it is wise to be safe and protected during sex, keeping yourself always clean.

Hoax or Fact:

Hoax.
