Vladimir Putin’s daughter suffered unexpected side effects to the experimental Russian COVID vaccine, and has passed away in Moscow. The Kremlin has yet to make a statement on her death. A source within Russia’s inner circle stated that Putin’s daughter – Katerina Tikhonova – suffered a rise in temperature shortly after her second injection, and then suffered a seizure. Doctors were not able to reverse the side-effects of the vaccine, and she was pronounced dead late yesterday evening.

Origin of Story: Putin’s Daughter Dies after COVID-19 Vaccine
On 15th August 2020, Toronto Today website TorontoToday.net published an article saying ‘Vladimir Putin’s daughter DIES after second dose of COVID vaccine‘. The article said she suffered unexpected side effects to the experimental Russian COVID vaccine, and has passed away in Moscow. Notably, the article mentions the information is coming from a source within Russia’s inner circle. The article then goes on to describe criticism on the vaccine, calling it unsafe and a misguided move from Russian government.

As a matter of fact, before the approval of the world’s first COVID-19 vaccine in Russia, there was some criticism from various countries. They expressed worry over the speed of clinical trials conducted in Russia. On the other hand, amid the global pandemic, there was also hope the vaccine will soon reach other countries like India and help millions of people suffering and dying from the deadly viral disease.

On 11th August 2020, President Vladimir Putin announced Russia approved (registered) the vaccine for COVID-19, despite international skepticism. He said they would start administering the vaccine to public soon. He also said his daughter had taken it and the vaccine is safe. Adding more, Putin said his daughter had slight fever, was fine later and had a high number of antibodies.
Coming to the death claim, the source of information Toronto Today is a new website created just few weeks earlier in July 2020, calling itself – Alternative Media outlet focused on filling in the cracks. The article is deleted as of this writing, and the website also appears to have been taken down. There’s no credible source of the death news or any official statement on it. So, all this concludes to saying the stories saying Putin’s daughter dies after 2nd dose of ‘experimental’ COVID-19 vaccine are just hoaxes.

Related False Information
Prior to the announcement of approving Russia’s vaccine for COVID-19, unverified picture/video circulated on social media claiming to show Putin’s daughter taking the COVID-19 vaccine.
As a matter of fact, the woman taking vaccine was a volunteer in the clinical trial of the vaccine – not related to Putin. Russian television network RT.com reported about the clinical trial earlier on 20th July 2020.
