Analysis:
The story that went viral online talks about 10,000-year-old rock paintings found in Chhattisgarh of India that are said to depict Aliens and UFO Space Ships. Let us analyze facts about these claims.

Story as Reported
On 15 July 2014, The Times of India (timesofindia.indiatimes.com) mentioned the story with the same title, saying the Chhattisgarh state department of archaeology and culture plans to seek help from NASA and ISRO to research on the 10,000-year-old rock paintings depicting aliens and UFOs that were found in Charama region in Kanker district of tribal Bastar region, Chhattisgarh. The article also mentioned views of an archaeologist JR Bhagat.
Archaeologist JR Bhagat’s Views
According to archaeologist JR Bhagat, the rock paintings in the caves that come under villages Chandeli and Gotitola depict aliens and UFOs like those shown in Hollywood and Bollywood flicks. Bhagat told Times of India that the findings suggest that humans in prehistoric times may have seen or imagined beings from other planets, and that extensive research is needed for further findings. While mentioning the local people’s beliefs in unusual “rohela people” landing from the skies, Bhagat also pointed that the strangely carved figures do not have clear features.
The archaeologist JR Bhagat said Chhattisgarh does not have any such expert who could give clarity on the subject. However, the Times of India article concluded that other archaeologists would be consulted for further verification.
Old Discovery
As it appears from the report, the rock paintings found in Charama and Gotitola sites of Chhattisgarh are not newly found; there are also many similar and other paintings discovered in the State. Notably, the paintings in question do not really appear like aliens or alien space ships. Moreover, when the (unclear) picture shown above to depict alien space ship with three legs of vehicle’s stand is rotated 180 degrees and all colors of it are inversed negative, we can get a better view of it, along with faded away marks on head and lower body. It does not look like a space ship, but appears like some being rather.

Report Trashed
As reported in News 18, Chhattisgarh (news18.com) on 25 July 2014, Rakesh Chaturvedi, the Director of Archaeological Department has trashed the claims of his deputy Director JR Bhagat, who said the 10,000 years old rock paintings recovered from Gotitola had depiction of aliens. The Director said the claims of his deputy were not up to the mark and has created confusion, and also that serious administrative actions should be initiated against him.
Chaturvedi explained that the ancient rock paintings were discovered in 2005 by retired archaeologist Dr. Bharti Shroti. A report on the findings was submitted to the department in 2009, and in 2011, a research paper presented in a national seminar disclosed that a picture among them was not of any alien — it was a picture of a man who has done Sirshasana.
To conclude, the ancient rock paintings found in Chhattisgarh of India do not depict any aliens or UFOs.
