This being is believed to be a ‘bigfoot’ cross Human, he was found abandoned in a small town in a remote bamboo forest deep in the sichuan province. These areas have long time legends of Bigfoot aka the Yeren.

Analysis:

These messages and videos went viral on Internet, claiming to show a giant, hybrid man in China, who was supposedly found in a Jungle and is believed to be a ‘bigfoot’ cross human. Although the man does appear weird and gigantic, fortunately, he is not a bigfoot cross human.

About the Chinese Man

The Chinese man shown in the video was supposedly found in a small, remote town in a bamboo forest deep in the Sichuan province. As shown in the video, the Chinese man is unusually large and has ape like face. The story says that the mother of the boy had claimed she was kidnapped by a Yeren (the Chinese version of Bigfoot), who raped her repeatedly before she escaped back to her village. And after 9 months, she supposedly gave birth to this strange boy who grew abnormally large. It is said that the ‘hybrid’ man was never able to speak any language and had a mild understanding of what people used to tell him. It is also said that the man died at the age of 33, and since he was kept hidden in a small village, not much is known about him.

Chinese Beliefs and Microcephaly

Some Chinese, especially the rural people do believe in unusually large ape like creatures of Bigfoot and Yeren, the physical evidence of which is not known till date. Skeptics thought that the Chinese man in the video could have been suffering from a neurodevelopmental disorder called Microcephaly, a birth defect that causes abnormal head growth, poor brain function, dwarfism or short stature, and a shorter life expectancy. They thought that the mother was ashamed of having an usual, retarded baby and so made up a story about being raped by a bigfoot. Microcephaly may be caused by genetic abnormalities or by drugs, alcohol, certain viruses, and toxins that are exposed to the fetus during pregnancy, causing damage to the developing brain tissue. One such notable case is Schlitzie Surtees (1901 – 1971), an American sideshow performer and occasional actor, best known for his role in the 1932 movie Freaks. Schlitzie (shown below) was born with microcephaly that left him with an unusually small brain and skull, a small stature (about four feet tall), myopia, and moderate to severe mental retardation. He died from bronchial pneumonia.

Beckwith-Wiedemann Syndrome?

However, this does not explain the giant size of the hybrid looking man and his ape-like characteristics. We believe the hybrid man found in China was probably suffering from a rare congenital growth disorder related to Beckwith-Wiedemann syndrome, which causes large body size, large organs, and other symptoms, also including microcephaly:

Abdominal wall defect: umbilical hernia or omphalocele
Creases in ear lobes
Enlargement of some organs and tissues
External ear (pinna) abnormalities and low-set ears
Large size for a newborn (large for gestational age)
Large, prominent eyes
Large tongue, sometimes protruding
Lethargy
Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
Mild microcephaly
Poor feeding
Separated abdominal muscles (diastasis recti)
Seizures
Undescended testicles (cryptorchidism)

Even in case of Microcephaly, the course of the medical condition varies depending on the presence of associated abnormalities. So the claims that the Chinese man found in the jungle of China is a human cross of Bigfoot are hoax; the man was most probably suffering from a rare congenital disorder.
