A video that went viral online claims to show that Tamil actor Soori encountered a scary ‘Robed Ghost’ on the Palani-Coimbatore highway while he and his companion/driver were on a late night drive at 2.30 AM. Let us analyze whether the said ghost experience is fact or not.
Tamil Actor Soori Shared Ghost Encounter Video
On 17 August 2016 actor Soori shared the video of his alleged ghost experience on YouTube with a title ‘Tamil Actor Soori Real Ghost encounter,’ and the next day on 18 August he shared the same on his official Facebook page captioning it as ‘My Real Ghost Encounter, Unbelievably True. Coimbatore to Palani Road at 2.30am‘. The video soon garnered thousands of shares and was also mentioned in some media outlets.

Actor Soori and his companion/driver happen to see on road what appears like the lower body portion of a woman dressed in an Orange Saree, with nothing above the waist. Scared at the ghost sighting, Soori yells at his companion/driver to shut down the lights of the car, and as they sit in darkness, the panic builds. Then they decide to drive full-speed towards the unknown figure until they apparently run over it. What could be the robe/sari of the ghost appears against the car windshield before it is knocked off and they drive on. “Obviously I thought it was just my imagination until I saw the disfigured ghost stand right in the middle of the road blocking our path,” said Soori talking about the experience.
Flaws with the ‘Ghost’ Encounter Video
As of this writing, the Ghost Encounter is the only video in Soori’s YouTube channel. Then there are certain questions like why their camera is on in advance in such a late night drive. The ghost robe/saree seen on the car windshield appears more like a padded blanket. Notably, at one point of time in the video (0:28s), before they apparently drive over, the ghostly figure is nowhere seen on the road. So the video shared by Soori is not convincing; it is nowhere close to an unbelievably true Ghost encounter.
Soori is popular among the youth for his comedy roles in Tamil movies, and there’s an increased craze for paranormal/ghost stories in Kollywood. So it is possible that the ghost encounter video shared by Soori is an elaborate and creative prank for his fans. The ghost encounter video shared by Tamil actor Soori is possibly hoax.
