Congress Councillor Zakir Hussain Anti-National Audio: Fact Check

Earlier in March 2020, Karnataka BJP State president Nalin Kumar Kateel also described the Congress as anti-national. He said it explaining Congress was spreading canards in the name of CAA. They were destroying public property while staging protests against the law. He was in fact referring to the nationwide protests against CAA and violence damaging public property in some places. Nalin Kumar recalled Congress was spreading false information about CAA among the people. He also reminded Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Ministers late Indira Gandhi, Manmohan Singh all wanted to give Indian citizenship to religiously persecuted minorities from Pakistan.

On the other hand, a police spokesperson said the force determined the audio conversation of Zakir Hussain contained information “prejudicial to the regional or religious peace and tranquility, spreading rumours and seditious in nature”.
