The picture message doing rounds heavily on Twitter, some image sharing websites and also blogs, suggests to show that the American White House was illuminated in Purple color the night the famous musician Prince died, and it was lit in Rainbow colors the night same sex marriage was made legal, but there was no such display in honor of the five police officers killed in Dallas in July 2016. No, as described below, the claim as such is not a fact.

In memory of sudden death of musician Prince in April 2016, a number of monuments across United States and elsewhere in the world were lit up in purple colors. But as shown in the picture message, the White House was not one of them; the purple-lit White House is a photoshopped version of the rainbow-lit White House. The White House was in fact illuminated with rainbow lights back in June 2015 when the Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriage.

Coming to the point in question, five Dallas police officers were killed by a lone attacker on 7 July 2016. As a mark of respect for the dead police officers in Dallas, the next day, U.S. President Barack Obama ordered that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and upon all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels:

So the message in the picture claiming the White House was being partial in paying respect to the death of musician Prince, and did not do any such thing for cops shot in Dallas is a hoax. The flag of the United States was flown at half-staff at the White House and other places mentioned above.
