A viral picture circling on social media allegedly shows former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Touching Sonia Gandhi’s Feet. Additionally, there’s another story saying the man in Turban is Navjot Singh Sidhu Touching Feet of Sonia Gandhi. As explained below, both the claims are not true.
Not Manmohan Singh Touching Sonia Gandhi’s Feet
The photograph allegedly showing Manmohan Singh touching former Congress President Sonia Gandhi’s feet became so popular online there are also videos based on it. However, the face of the man touching Sonia Gandhi’s feet is not seen in the photograph. Moreover, former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a bit thin than the person in the photograph. The photograph taken in late November 2011 actually shows a Congress representative touching the feet of Sonia Gandhi – the man in turban isn’t Manmohan Singh. You can see below a photograph of Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi in the program (dressed different).
Not Navjot Singh Siddhu Touching Sonia Gandhi’s Feet
The man in turban is also not Navjot Singh Siddhu because he joined the Indian National Congress much later in 2017. Earlier, he was in Bharatiya Janata Party. However, there’s another picture (shown below) showing Navjot Singh Siddhu touching the feet of Sonia Gandhi. It was during Congress plenary deliberations in March 2018 when Siddhu also touched Manmohan Singh’s feet for blessing.
Therefore, the claims that the photograph in question shows Manmohan Singh touching Sonia Gandhi’s Feet or that it is Navjot Singh Siddhu are hoaxes. The man in turban touching Sonia Gandhi’s feet is a Congress representative.
