Analysis:

This is the picture of giant looking spider circulating with various titles, some of which claim that it is the giant Angolan Witch Spider, Australian or Texas Spider, the largest spider of the world – capable of eating pets like cats and dogs alive. The messages are not facts.

If one can watch the picture showing the giant spider closely, the copyright information is shown on the bottom left of it – ArtOfPencil.com. It is a digitally faked image made by the artist Paul Santa Maria. As per Guinness records, the world’s largest known spider is a male goliath bird-eating spider found in Venezuela in April 1965 – having a leg-span of 28 cm (11 inches). They are only of the size of human palm. The video below shows one such spider feeding on a mouse. So expecting such spiders to eat pets like cats and dogs is highly impossible.

Therefore stories claiming that the spider in the picture is the Angolan Witch Spider, largest in the world, and can eat pets like cats and dogs alive are simply hoaxes. In fact there is nothing like Angolan Witch Spider. The messages need not be shared. Hoax stories like these are scary and so do spread well, one such popular story circulating in the past was that of Giant Camel Spiders, claiming to be dangerous to humans.

Hoax or Fact:

Hoax.
