Bill Gates $5,000 Giveaway for Facebook share Hoax

Hey Facebook, As some of you may know, I’m Bill Gates. If you click that share link, I will give you $5,000. I always deliver, I mean, I brought your Windows XP, right?

The picture message circulating on Facebook shows Bill Gates with a sign claiming that he will give $5000 to the people who share the picture. The message is a hoax.

Bill Gates is not giving away any $5000 to people for a simple share on Facebook, in fact no one is going to give you money like that. The original picture actually is something different, associated with Reddit’s AMA (Ask Me Anything). On 11 Feb 2013, Bill Gates submitted a reddit saying that he will answer questions of people in a live program, as a part of his first Reddit AMA session. As shown in the image section below, the picture shows Bill Gates holding a sign that says – ” Hi! Reddit! this is bill gates “, with a cartoon of him and Reddit showing he loves it. This picture was manipulated, most probably by pranksters and then circulated with the fake give away message. Some people also shared the picture as the message appeared somewhat funny.

The message saying Bill Gates is giving away $5,000 for a Facebook share is therefore a hoax. It need not be shared.
