The story spread wide online comes as a new shocking confession from National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden revealing in an interview that the climate change concerns as in Global Warming is a Hoax created by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) of USA. Although the seriousness of the global warming is a frequently debated topic, the claims as such are not facts.

The story in question originated from a 7th March 2016 article on World News Daily Report website worldnewsdailyreport.com that came with the title ‘Edward Snowden: Global Warming is an invention of the CIA‘. According to it, Edward Snowden, the National Security Agency whistleblower in 2013 has made a new controversial claim during an interview with Moscow Tribune, saying that he possesses some classified information that proves CIA first orchestrated the spread of the “theory of Global Warming” in the 1950s, in order to scare people and divert the attention of the scientific community from the dangers of the weapons race, and to reinforce its control over research institutes. Between several debates over the seriousness and concerns of global warming, many people felt the story could be a fact and went on to share it on social sharing sites like Facebook, Twitter and Reddit. The claims that became popular this way are not facts though. World News Daily Report is an entertainment website that publishes satirical and fictional content, like for example, the same website earlier published hoax stories like German scientists have proved there is Life after Death, and that a 200 Million year old Dinosaur Egg Hatches in Berlin Museum.
