Fukushima Disaster Leaves Hundreds of Whales Radiated to Death

The Scene Near Fukushima Today – Killed by Nuclear Radiation

Reporting from the village of Fukushima I was shocked to find on my arrival that hundreds of whale carcasses were found along the beach early this morning which now extend up and down the shore as far as I can see.

The scene is absolutely devastating especially since no word of this latest crisis has been reported to the Japanese people or to the rest of the world. In fact the Japanese government has remained silent about today’s latest events.

Analysis:

The circulating message comes as a news report, along with a picture claiming to show that hundreds of Whales have died offshore – because of the radiation resulting from the disaster in nuclear power plants of Fukushima, Japan. There are even videos that claim to show the same. Not really!

The news report in question is an article of National Report, with the same title. However, the website, as such, does not show real news. The National Report website is basically an online portal for “Citizen Journalists,” as mentioned in their disclaimer:

Again, the videos in question is not real news reports. The footage is an automated voice of fake news report of The Cosmos News, the website of which clearly indicates the same – it is not intended for real news, but marketing. And as far as the picture in question is concerned, those are the 58 Pilot Whales that were seen stranded on Karikari Beach in northern New Zealand, out of which 15 were in fact alive. You can see the original image below. This incident happened back on 20 August 2010, and is no way related to the nuclear radiation around Fukushima plant of Japan. Therefore the message in question is a hoax; the whales did not die of radiation. In fact there are no credible news reporting any such mass whale deaths due to radiation.

However, it is a fact that there is nuclear crisis in Japan after the disaster that happened in 2011, about which you can read in detail here. Radioactive water is reported to have leaked into the surrounding Pacific Ocean, which also raised health concerns over fish consumption from these areas. Scientists reported high levels of radioactive Cesium in fish living at the bottom of the sea. They have also noted a rise in Strontium-90 and Tritium levels lately. The Fisheries in Fukushima state were in fact closed, and fish caught in nearby states are sold on the market only after testing their safety.

Hoax or Fact:

Hoax.
