Story:
Google Introduces the Self-driving Bicycle in the Netherlands: Video.
Other Versions
Google’s self-driving bicycle.

Analysis:
A video shared widely online since March end of 2016 claims to show a short clipping explaining the concept of the Self-driving Bicycle Google introduced in the Netherlands. Although many believed what is shown in the video coming from official YouTube channel of ‘Google Nederland’ could be a fact, it isn’t.

On 31 March 2016, Google Nederland posted the YouTube video with a title ‘Introducing the self-driving bicycle in the Netherlands‘ and a description saying they are introducing the self-driving bicycle in Amsterdam, the world’s premier cycling city, in the Spring – to enable safe navigation. Mistaking it for real, many users on social media sites went on sharing the video. It went viral after it was shared on a Facebook page Calimero that shares viral, funny videos. The fact of the matter being, the video was simply an April fools prank. Although it was not mentioned in the video, the description of the video included a link to ‘making of’ video (second one in this article) that clearly suggests the Google’s self-driving bicycle video is a hoax. In the two pictures above as well, you can see couple of pictures from the ‘making of’ video that suggest the video was actually made using Computer-generated imagery (CGI).
Hoax or Fact:
