Certain stories in wide circulation on social media sites claim that a Husband Mistakenly Beats Woman Wearing Snake Stockings. They come with three photographs, two showing a woman’s legs in snake-print stockings and another an injured leg with bandage. Accordingly, the woman wore the snake stockings to impress her husband, but he mistook them for two real snakes seeing through the door. Out of fear of snakes, the husband seems to have grabbed a baseball bat and beat his wife. Some posts also warned women to be careful when choosing and wearing such ‘stylish’ stockings. Despite the claims, the picture message and bizarre story is not true.

Facebook page Pakistan Community in Australia shared a post on the weird story in question on 24th of December 2018. It also appeared earlier on Rassd Tunisia website rassdtunisia.net. As you can see in the two pictures, the two legs of woman wearing Snake Stockings do indeed look like real snakes. The scales in the print of stockings are so vivid, wearing them on the legs seems to show a live snake. However, as told in the message, it is not quite likely someone would beat without seeing it entirely.

Searching for the pictures, we in fact found the one showing injured leg with bandage appeared on a WordPress blog back in 2016. The context was how to learn to sew wounds and the patient in picture is described to have injured his foot after a machine fell on it. On the other hand, the pictures of snake-print stockings appeared on Twitter, where the user bought them from a fashion brand Mimi – mimi –. The unrelated pictures are brought together to fabricate a false story.
