Various stories in circulation online since early 2014 come to state that the Vatican or Roman Catholic Leaders admitted that Jesus is not coming back. No, those claims that Vatican said Jesus is not coming back are not facts.

Origin of Stories

In April 2014, Waterford Whispers News website waterfordwhispersnews.com published an article with the title – “Jesus Not Coming Back By The Looks Of It” Admits Vatican. According to the article, a spokesperson for the Vatican, Cardinal Giorgio Salvadore officially announced that the second coming of Jesus may not happen now after all, but urged followers to still continue with their faith. He added that Jesus was probably drinking wine when he made the promise of coming back. However, as mentioned clearly in their Disclaimer information, Waterford Whispers News is a fabricated satirical newspaper and comedy website.

Again in July 2016, Realtime News website realtimenews.info reported the same old article with slightly different title – “Jesus is NOT Coming BACK, He Was Drunk When He said So” – Roman Catholic Leaders SAY. Realtime News is an entertainment website that does not carry any disclaimer information. But back in 2014 when the story saying Jesus is not coming back became popular; the President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference, Rev Joseph Osei-Bonsu refuted the reports and mentioned that there was no Vatican spokesperson or Cardinal by the name Giorgio Salvadore.

So quite clearly, the stories stating Vatican or Roman Catholic leaders to have said that Jesus is not coming back for the second time are hoaxes that originated from a satirical online publication.
