The picture story that keeps surfacing on social media sites and elsewhere online claims to show a heartbreaking incident showing a cute little orphan girl drawing an outline of her never seen mother on the floor of her Orphanage and fell asleep on her “mother’s” chest. Although the picture is genuine, the orphan girl story attributed to it is not a fact.

The popular picture often shared online comes with the story that she is Iranian orphan girl who has never seen her mother, so she drew a mom on the ground and fell asleep with her. Quite a lot of viewers online believed in the ‘heartbreaking’ story, but as a matter of fact, it is just a picture taken that way; the orphan girl drawing a picture of her mom is not true. The picture was taken back on 15 July 2012 by Bahareh Bisheh, who is an Iranian photographer from Isfahan city. Bahareh Bisheh uploaded the picture to Flickr website flickr.com with a title ‘I Have a Mother…‘ in an album that roughly translates to ‘My Chalky World,’ and in response to related queries from commenters, the photographer responded with the below message:

This little girl is my cousin and she actually fell asleep on the asphalt just outside my house. She must have played for some time and just lied to rest and fell asleep. im used a chair to stand on in order to take this shot. There is no orphanage involved and no tragic story behind this. i took this opportunity to be creative.
