According to some websites A man is so smitten by good looks of dogs that he has decided to go for plastic surgery to make him look alike a dog. The Brazilian man offered an unknown sum of money to doctors to transplant his face with the dog’s face. The doctor transplanted man’s facial features, like ear, nose, lips and eyebrows with parts obtained from severed head of a dead dog. The man is being called as man-dog after he went for the weird surgery.

It is very disturbing that a good looking Brazilian guy so much wanted to resemble a dog that he went as far as having a plastic surgery just to make his dream come true, hoping to become the first “Dog-man” in the world. His pictures are making rounds online.

According to reports, the man yet to be identified by name paid a huge sum of money to doctors to transplant his face with a real dog’s face.

The plastic surgeon transplanted man’s facial features such as ear, nose, lips and eyebrows with parts obtained from severed head of a dead dog. The man has been tagged the first dog-man in the world following his bizarre surgery.

Analysis:

The picture messages talk about the ‘first dog-man’ in the world, claiming to show how the Brazilian man went through a plastic surgery to get a Dog’s Face transplanted on him, along with its facial features like ear, nose, lips and eyebrows. Although the pictures in the message look very real, the claims are hoax.

These pictures which claim to show the first dog-man in the world to have transplanted a dog’s face upon himself have been circulating since few years now. Since the pictures looked very real, many believed this weird animal-to-human transplantation to be a fact, and were surprised at this unusual act of the man. Nevertheless, the story is NOT real. These pictures are a part of (bizarre) art work titled ‘Fantasia de Compensação‘ (Compensation Fantasy, 2004) done by a ‘different’ kind of Brazilian artist Rodrigo Braga, whose “replica” is what you see in the pictures.

As the messages suggest, the pictures do not really show a living man with a dog’s face. A replica of Rodrigo Braga was used by a veterinary surgeon, who sewed the muzzle, eyebrows and ears of a real, but dead Rottweiler dog onto it. The artist later took a series of photographs depicting this weird procedure, and digital manipulation was also used to make it look real and convey a different kind of art. Obviously, these pictures raised severe criticism from animal rights groups, to which the artist had to explain that he got the dead dog from an animal shelter which euthanized it previously, as it could not be rehomed, and that he had taken permission of the local authorities.

The above art Fantasia de Compensação was in fact the first of his works, which he started after recovering from a life changing encounter with a sickened dog. Through his work, the artist seems to convey the conflict between man and nature, human and animal.

So the bottom line is, the Brazilian man did not undergo any surgery or transplantation to get a dog’s face, these claims of showing world’s first man-dog are simply hoax, a prank too perhaps.
