A bunch of pictures shared online with various stories attached to them claim to show a Real Mermaid found dead at the beach of Indian Ocean, Gujarat, India. The mermaid pictures have in fact caught many eyeballs in the internet space, so let us see if there’s any grain of truth to it.

The pictures claiming to show a fantastically beautiful Mermaid with half body of a woman and the other that of a fish have been circulating with various versions of stories saying the mystical creature has been found in India, Pakistan, Mexico, Belgium, Thailand, Canary Islands, etc. The fact of the matter, however, is that the pictures actually show a prop made for the 2011 film “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” wherein the Mermaid corpses were depicted by plaster models created by makeup and special effects artist Joel Harlow. The movie has a plot point to harvest tears from a mermaid; that any individual drinking from such chalice will have their life extended. The video shows the making of the mermaid designs for the movie, also featuring the artist Joel Harlow.
