A ‘breaking news’ story seen widely online in various versions reports about a gruesome discovery where a man was arrested after Police find 19 (or 12) White Female bodies in Freezers, either Tagged with “Black Lives Matter,” or Carved the same into their Skin. Thankfully, the claims are not facts as detailed below.

Origin of Stories

Since February 2016 many ‘news’ websites like NOW8NEWS (now8news.com), Empire Herald (empireherald.com) and tmzhiphop.com have been publishing the story in question in various versions. NOW8NEWS reported that a man who seemed “under the influence of drugs” was arrested by Police in Los Angeles after a dozen frozen bodies were found within 6 freezers in the man’s garage. It was said that the bodies were of all white women in their mid-20s, blonde hair, and all had the writings marked on them which read “Black Lives Matter” and “BLM.” Empire Herald detailed a similar story naming a 39 year old Rasheed Thompson to have been found by Chicago Police with a series of dead bodies in a freezer in his basement. In this case, 19 white women bodies were allegedly found in Freezers with “Black Lives Matter” carved into Skin. Another version seen online even called the murderer of 19 women, Rasheed Thompson as Obama’s son.

Fake News Websites

Netizens who bought the aforementioned stories went on to share them on social media sites, and the story went viral. However, there is no credible news about any such incident. NOW8NEWS, Empire Herald and tmzhiphop.com are in fact fake news websites. The sites do not have a disclaimer mentioning their stories are fiction/satire. But the kind of false stories they keep publishing is a clear indicator of same. In past, NOW8NEWS has published a hoax story saying Indian scientists cloned a half human, half gorilla hybrid called Hurilla. The pictures that came with the stories are obviously not related to the alleged incident.

So, police did not find 19 (or 12) white female bodies in Freezers with “Black Lives Matter” marked/carved into their skin. The claims originated from fake news websites, and are certainly hoaxes.
