Russian Scientists Discover a Cure to Homosexuality.
A vaccine against homosexuality discovered by Russian scientists.
A ‘news story’ shared online suggests that a group of Russian Scientists have Discovered a Vaccine to Cure Homosexuality in Humans, if treated at young age. No, the claims are not true.
Origin of Story
On 6th August 2017 Loyalys website loyalys.com published the story in question in one of their articles. According to it, Dr. Dimitri Yusrokov Slamini and his team of researchers from Russian Institute for Medical Science in Novosibirsk (a city in Siberia) have discovered what they claim to be a new vaccine that can prevent early symptoms of homosexuality in humans and even cure it, when treated in young age. It is also said that countries like Iran, China and Saudi Arabia have shown interest in the new discovery, and that American and European researchers have expressed much skepticism on same.
Satire, Not Fact
After Loyalys website published the aforementioned article about vaccine/cure for homosexuality, it was discussed in many online forums, and became popular. As a matter of fact, the story also appeared in many other websites in previous years and was also used in memes. The article was originally published in May 2014 in World News Daily Report website worldnewsdailyreport.com, which happens to be a well known satirical publication. The website also carries a Disclaimer mentioning they assume all responsibility for the satirical nature of articles and for the fictional nature of their content. Moreover, as mentioned in the article, there is no Russian Institute for Medical Science in Novosibirsk, and there are no credible reports about any such discovery of cure to Homosexuality. At the end of their article, Loyalys website too mentioned their source as World News Daily Report website.
So in short, Russian scientists did not discover any cure/vaccine for Homosexuality in humans; the claims that originated from a satirical publication are hoaxes.
