The messages originating from some Facebook pages come as free offers, prizes and giveaways of one or more Chevrolet Camaro cars to selected (or lucky draw) Facebook users who follow the instructions, such as liking, sharing, or commenting on a photograph they post on Facebook. Let us learn if they really giveaway free Camaro cars like this.

Various Claims

We have seen people set up many Facebook pages (like shown in images above) in the name of Camaro competition, prizes or giveaways from the past couple of years. They post attractive images of Camaro cars on Facebook, asking users to like their page, share the photo, comment on it, and even register their names in a website in order to participate in the free giveaway contest. Note that other versions of these messages have been proclaiming giveaways of other cars like BMW and Audi R8, and all these usually surface during festive seasons like Christmas.

Scams

The Facebook pages described above do not disclose any identity information and sometimes edit (postpone) the date of declaring the prizes (that are not present) and keep re-sharing same. These are all simply scams intended to generate likes to their Facebook pages. The scammers also post links to trick users into completing surveys, and once their Facebook page gets a huge fan base, they even promote other products. No wonder, no winner will ever be announced.

In some cases, the scammers can even extract personal information from the Facebook user, and also attempt to extract money saying they have won the promised prize. So do not believe in such claims on Facebook, and do not share them. Unless it is announced on the company’s official Facebook page/website, it is unlikely that anyone is getting a free car. You can report the scam pages or the post to Facebook as spam/scam. If you’ve already liked any such Chevrolet Camaro giveaway pages, unlike them and also remove the post you have shared on your timeline so that your friends do not get scammed.

It is unfortunate that it has now become a trend to create such Facebook pages with false claims that they are giving away large prizes for free.
