Certain stories accompanying links on social media sites and WhatsApp claim to offer users Jio Free 399Rs. Recharge, as a part of Anniversary offer. As a matter of fact, Jio became a popular mobile network operator in India and is providing various recharge offers to its users. On the other hand, we often see various websites coming up with offers like these, which are not always true.
Jio Free 399Rs. Recharge Scam
We have come across the website Jio-Free-399rs.com that claims to offer Jio free 399Rs. recharge with Rs. 399 100% cashback. As you can see in screenshot images, it is a single webpage full of advertisements. Viewers are asked to answer couple of simple Jio questions to claim the free recharge offer. At the bottom of the webpage is a scrolling message that says, “A total of approximately 15,110 valid correct entries will be selected by the randomizer software“. At the bottom, there are also couple of terms and conditions listed:

To test the authenticity of the free recharge claim, when we provided the name and mobile number and submitted the information, the website gave “405 Not Allowed” error. Most probably, the payment landing page was taken down later. Else, the visitor would be asked to pay 399 rupees for recharge that he is said to get 100% cashback. Point to note, Jio celebrated their anniversary back in September 2017 itself and as such they did not offer any free recharge. Moreover, we have seen the links that come with these stories of free recharge are not secured, and are not official announcements from the Jio service provider.

All these are features of typical scam that exploit the popularity of a brand name in market. This Jio free 399Rs. recharge is a scam that only collects personal data and steals money from unsuspecting users. There won’t be any cashback later. Note that the scam can appear online in different variants.
