Analysis:
Various messages on Facebook, with eye-catching pictures of women, celebrities, animals, graphics or others, ask the users to either comment something, like, or share the picture/link to see a ‘magic’ that follows. These claims are simply hoax, the messages being tricky marketing techniques to gain Facebook likes and traffic.
This has been the latest and easy way to get likes and shares on Facebook – taking advantage of the curiosity of the Facebook users and tricking them into increasing their traffic. The Facebook posts come with interesting and eye-catching pictures and graphics (sometimes blur or hidden, as shown in the picture above) to grab attention of the readers, and with messages asking people either to like, share or comment something below the picture/link to see what happens. Sometimes, these messages also come in the form of ‘puzzles’ to make the readers more curious and trick them into sharing the posts. However, we have checked and verified that liking, commenting or sharing something like this will do no magic – but for marketing their stuff. The scammers take advantage of the fact that once the user likes their post and then realizes nothing happens, he does not generally go back and unlike/unshare the post. This way the scammers fool readers and spread their messages across many people, taking advantage of the networking on social media websites, Facebook here.
So users are advised to be more wise when believing in such silly stuff, and not to spread them across their network.
