Analysis:

The message claims that the World Wrestling Entertainment star Undertaker has dies in a neck injury while practicing a wrestling stunt with fellow wrestler John Cena. The message also comes with a link that claims to show their practice video and the efforts made to save Undertaker. The message is a complete hoax, a scam in fact.

Mark William Calaway, better known as Undertaker, is a professional wrestler who has always had this tag of ‘dead man’ with him, because of his acts in wrestling. Ever since he became a star, there were many instances when he was believed to be dead, but he is very much alive today. After these messages started spreading, Undertaker is seen to have appeared publicly when he visited the Florida Championship Wrestling – FCW event, where you can also see his pictures. The message above actually takes advantage of this reputation of Undertaker to generate reader’s interest and build traffic to their link mentioned in the end, which is not a video of Undertaker and John Cena practice match, but a Facebook application. The scam Facebook application seems to have been removed now.

Undertaker, who is 47 years old, wrestles very infrequently these days, because of the age factor, but according to Examiner.com, they expect him to fight CM Punk in the coming ‘Hell in a Cell’ match, on October 28th.

The latest messages have been using different Facebook application links with the same story so as to mislead people and generate traffic. The links mentioned above when clicked direct you to ‘protected news and videos’ application, which when accepted, forces you to take surveys, like the one belonging to bestylish.com as shown in the images below. Even when you want to close the application window, it shows a pop up alert saying – congratulations, you are a winner for today, and claim your prize. When you stay on the page, it redirects you to a smart looking spinning wheel, where it asks you to spin and win a prize from the list of goodies available. After few fake attempts, when it shows that you won something, the application smartly presents you affiliate campaigns and best buy offers.

So, by all means this is a misleading application that can even post their promotional stuff on your Facebook timeline. The later versions of these messages said that John Cena died in a head injury while perfecting a wrestling stunt with Rock. These are again scam messages. Avoid clicking such links, and if you have already used such applications, you can delete them from your Facebook account. Go to Account Settings of your Facebook account, then choose Apps on left, and delete the particular application by clicking on the remove button shown as x.
