A ‘breaking’ news information circulating online claims to show in video a Parsi woman gives birth to 11 sons at once in Gulabpura Hospital of Bhilwara town in Rajasthan, India. The video shows couple of doctors delivering multiple babies from a woman’s womb in cesarean surgery. Accompanying message states such an incident happened for the first time in world and all the 11 sons born are safe and healthy. Although the video is real, the associated claims are not true.
Woman Gives Birth to 11 Sons?
The video and the messages in question are circulating on WhatsApp, Facebook and also YouTube. Contrary to the claim, the language heard in the video is not Indian. Also, there are no reports about any such woman giving birth to 11 sons at once in Rajasthan or anywhere in India. According to Guinness World Records website guinnessworldrecords.com, the most children delivered in a single birth and survive are eight. The woman is Nadya Suleman from California.
Video Shows Woman Giving Birth to Sextuplets
The video in question in fact went viral online earlier in July 2018. Not 11 sons, it rather shows the delivery of six children (Sextuplets), a rare occurrence. A Turkish pediatrician Banu Ince Demirpençe shared the video on her personal Instagram page on 11th July 2018. In description, she said she is not aware of the source of the video, but the six babies born appear healthy. She also wished good luck and patience to the parents of the six angels born in the amazing caesarean surgery.
For your information, in March 2019, a Texas woman Thelma Chiaka gave birth to sextuplets – four boys and two girls in nine minutes. According to estimates, the odds of giving birth to sextuplets are at 1 in 4.7 billion.
Coming back to the story in question, the messages alleging to show a Parsi woman in India gives birth to 11 sons at once are therefore hoaxes. This reminds us of another false claim popular online showing a mother in USA gives birth to 17 babies at once.
