Fact Check:

Some ‘breaking news’ messages viral on social media claim Sunni Waqf Board has decided to set up a Babri Hospital and Museum on 5 acres of land in Ayodhya allotted by the Supreme Court of India. They claim the Babri Hospital, like AIIMS will provide free treatment to people of all faiths and religions. There are also messages in circulation claiming Dr Kafeel Khan will be the director of hospital. The claims are only partially fact explained here.

Babri Hospital in Ayodhya?

Although the claims in question are popular on social media, there are no credible news/official sources to validate them. After the viral claims, on 7th August 2020 Uttar Pradesh Sunni Central Waqf Board issued a press release for clarification.

The press release said the Board has constituted a Trust called Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation proposing to build a mosque, cultural research centre and public utility facilities that will include a community kitchen, a hospital and library at Dhannipur village, District Ayodhya place where 5 acre of land is given as per Supreme Court judgment. It also clarified the messages about Babri Hospital and Kafeel Khan as director of it are fake news. Furthermore, the trust mentioned the fake messages are mischievous and malafide. Earlier on 5th August, Indian PM Narendra Modi performed the Bhoomi Pooja, foundation laying ceremony for the proposed, historic Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
