A Dean Koontz Book Predicted Coronavirus Epidemic 40 Years Before in 1981
A Dean Koontz Book from 1981 Predicted Coronavirus is a Biological Weapon Developed by the Chinese and called Wuhan-400
A ‘fascinating’ claim viral on Twitter and other social platforms says a Book from 1981 Predicted Coronavirus Epidemic. Accordingly, the book from Dean Koontz suggests the virus as a Biological Weapon Chinese developed, calling it Wuhan-400. The mentioned behavior of the virus outbreak resembles that of Coronavirus, COVID-19. So, let us examine the claims in detail here.
About the Story in Circulation
In mid-February 2020 some Twitter users started sharing the story in question along with images of the book and an excerpt from it as supportive evidence. Congress leader from India Manish Tewari also posted the picture of cover and a page from Dean Koontz’s book ‘The Eyes of Darkness‘. He questions if Coronavirus is a biological weapon of the Chinese. Likewise, he suggested reading the excerpt of the book he shared in image. Consequently, many social media users shared the story mention of the virus Wuhan-400 in the book.
“It was around then that a Chinese scientist named Li Chen defected to the United States, carrying a diskette record of China’s most important and dangerous new biological weapon in a decade. They call the stuff “Wuhan-400” because it was developed at their RDNA labs outside of the city of Wuhan, and it was the four-hundredth visible strain of man-made microorganisms created at that research center.
Wuhan-400 is a perfect weapon. It afflicts only human beings. No other living creature can carry it. And like syphilis, Wuhan-400 can’t survive outside a living human body for longer than a minute, which means it can’t permanently contaminate objects or entire places the way anthrax and other virulent microorganisms can. And when host expires, the Wuhan-400 within him perishes a short while later, as soon as the temperature of the corpse drops below eighty-six degrees Fahrenheit. Do you see the advantage of all this?”
Has Dean Koontz Book Really Predicted Coronavirus Epidemic?
Dean Koontz is the American author of the fictional and thriller novel ‘The Eyes of Darkness‘. In his book, he describes the story of a Chinese military lab creating a new virus to potentially use as a biological weapon during wartime. However, civilians soon become sick after accidentally contracting it. Dean Koontz in fact writes about a mother, Christina Evans, who goes on a journey to find out if her son Danny is still alive or if he died during a camping trip. She finds him in a military facility after accidentally infected with the new virus.
The excerpt from the book doing rounds online describes the military facility lab located outside of the City of Wuhan. It says Wuhan-400 is the four hundredth viable strain of the man-made micro-organisms at the centre. Notably, it describes the new virus as the “perfect weapon” because it only affects humans. It says Wuhan-400 cannot survive outside the human body for more than a minute. Note, this is not the case of new strain of Coronavirus, COVID-19.
