A disturbing video in circulation on YouTube and social media alleges to show a Giant Wheel Accident at Nampally Exhibition in January 2019. It shows few people falling off the Giant Wheel as a result of the freaky accident. The Giant Wheel Accident in the video is real, but it did not take place at Nampally Exhibition in Hyderabad.

Not a Giant Wheel Accident at Nampally Exhibition

Yes, the unfortunate accident actually took place at a fun fair in Andhra Pradesh’s Anantapur earlier in May 2018. As can be seen in the video, a trolley car of the giant wheel in action came loose and threw seven people onto the ground. The tragic accident killed an eight-year-old girl almost immediately and also injured six others who ended up in hospital.

After the video went viral on social media with false claims, Exhibition Society issued a press note dismissing the rumors. They in fact clarified no such incident took place at the 79th All India Industrial Exhibition 2019 held at Exhibition Grounds, Nampally, Hyderabad, India. Hon. Secretary of the society has also assured safety of the visitors. The video also appears online with false messages saying the giant wheel accident happened in other places like at Askari amusement park of Pakistan.
