Fact Check:

Some ‘disturbing’ photographs are doing rounds online alleging to show a 68-year-old woman ‘barbie doll’ after a number of botched plastic surgeries. The shocking photographs appear to show a woman with disfigured facial features and hair standing in between couple of normal, young people. Thankfully, the disfiguring shown in the photographs is not real.

Not Old Woman After Plastic Surgeries

The photographs are doing rounds online since May 2019, some mentioning the woman is from Florida and hates plastic surgery after the outcome. On the other hand, some viewers wondered if it is photoshop or bad makeup. The fact of the matter is slightly different.

Unlike the claims, the photographs do not show a 68-year-old woman after a number of botched, plastic surgeries. It in fact shows a model from London Cassie Lloyd under the prosthetics, made by makeup artist Luis Baptista. The artist created the art work for a character ‘Weirdo Helena’ as an illustration to inform people of the dangers and issues of beauty industry. He wanted to shock and inform individuals of the dangers of plastic surgery and how far we have come and continue to go with it as a society.

Please go follow @weirdohelena I’ll be bringing her to life and playing as the character, so stay tuned for future appearances! 💋 I want to first of say thank you so much for all the love and support y’all have given me these past few days both for Helena and past work, this truly means the world to me 🖤 I also want to clear some things about the character herself. Even though I commonly refer to her as she, she doesn’t conform to a particular gender💋. In fact, my initial model for this character was meant to be a man. So please refer to her as you wish. With that being said, I don’t want this character to be a vessel for belittling women for their appearance. My intention for this character was never to mock plastic surgery, nor women who get work done, ESPECIALLY because women are not the only ones!!! I want her to shift our current society, change concepts and ideologies but also inform people of the dangers and issues we currently face, especially surrounding the consumerist culture that is the beauty industry • #art #artwork #artist #illustration #illustrator #makeup #makeupartist #makeupart #throwback #halloweenmakeup #halloween #witch #photography #photoshoot #darkness #photooftheday #specialeffectsmakeup #specialfxmakeup #sfxmakeup #fxmakeup #horrorhags @horrorhags #sculpture #prosthetics #plasticsurgery #botched #elvira #elviramistressofthedark @therealelvira
