Some people are so used to and attached to their Cell Phones that they develop the habit of Sleeping with them on Bed, sometimes even keeping them under Pillow. Certain stories that appear online warn that such habits of sleeping with phone in the bed are bad for your health; rightly so it is a fact.
According to CBS News website cbsnews.com, sleeping with your cell phone is a bad idea because of the electromagnetic waves they radiate whenever they are on – i.e. sleeping with one nearby boosts your exposure to it all night long. So it is suggested to either put your phone on “airplane mode,” which shuts down the transceiver, or turn it off. If you must be available for calls, you can place the phone several feet away from your bed, like on a nightstand. Dangers of Charging on Bed
Not many users might be aware, there are certain dangers associated with charging your cell phone in bed or under pillow. As you can read one on Daily mail Online website dailymail.co.uk, there are cases of badly burnt beds and pillows because of that kind of charging habit (see last few pictures in Image Gallery). Sandwiching your phone between a pillow and mattress while charging can cause it to overheat and catch fire. Remember that your device needs proper ventilation while charging.

But by having your phone close by your bed at night, you’re subconsciously saying you wish to attend to that phone. Moreover, couple of research studies in the U.K. and U.S. have shown that short wavelengths of light in the blue part of the spectrum (as in cell phone displays) are the most active in suppressing Melatonin, a hormone that anticipates the daily onset of darkness before sleep.
So considering the above concerns, it is better to avoid sleeping with a cell phone on your bed; you can either switch it off or keep it several feet away from your bed, like on a nightstand.
