Analysis:

This is the latest problem that hit Facebook on a large scale. Porn and violence attack in the form of daily motion videos and images popping in the Facebook news feeds from trusted friends. Facebook called this as a “coordinated spam attack” involving posting of pornographic and violent images on the Web pages of unsuspecting Facebook users.

These are not genuine porn videos and images, it is indeed a spam in the form of porn attack on Facebook, which only contained virus. “During this spam attack users were tricked into pasting and executing malicious javascript in their browser URL bar causing them to unknowingly share this offensive content,” Facebook’s Andrew Noyes explained in a statement. “Our efforts have drastically limited the damage caused by this attack, and we are now in the process of investigating to identify those responsible.”
Facebook has been keen on fighting and stopping these kind of obscene spam and virus attacking its users. This issue became so serious that another hoax relating to this story started to spread widely. It was about a supposed statement from the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, that said:

“The porn attacks originated in the Philippines and are being published by Filipinos all over Facebook, our experts here at Facebook are doing everything they can to stop it from spreading any further (outside the Philippines) and to eliminate the porn and spam threat completely which have been causing other Facebook users ‘a hard time’. Filipinos should also be vigilant and report any spam links and pornographic materials. 41% of Facebook members around the world are aged 12-17 years old, we cannot them be exposed to this kinds of things through Facebook. If this continues and more spams keep being posted, we will have no choice but to ban Philippine users from using Facebook. We at Facebook will not tolerate outlandish behavior and indecency.”

However, neither Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg nor any other person from Facebook has made any such official statement blaming Philippine users for this coordinated spam attack, and warning to ban Philippine users from using Facebook is not a fact either.

Similar to this daily motion porn videos application spam are the Facebook Guardian, YouNews and Yahoo News applications. Guardian is a famous UK newspaper, whose articles when clicked on Facebook redirects you to the Guardian Facebook app and makes you think that you need to install the app to read the article. When such an access is given, Guardian publishes all their links on your profile. One can read the articles without installing this app. YouNews and Yahoo News are also reported of such spamming.

When you are annoyed with any such virus applications on Facebook, you can stop it by simply removing these applications like Daily motion videos from your Facebook account. Here is how to do it. Go to Your Account Settings, click applications and then remove that particular application, the daily motion videos here.
